Miss Marenda's Tea Room
About This Spot
Stepping into Miss Marenda's Tea Room is like slipping into a quiet moment tucked away from the bustle of the day. Nestled in the heart of Sparta, this unpretentious American eatery invites you to slow down and savor not just a meal, but a gentle pause filled with warm conversations and the soft clink of tea cups.
The atmosphere here leans into a comforting nostalgia, with cozy seating arrangements that encourage lingering. The pace is unhurried, allowing guests to settle into a rhythm where food and company matter more than the clock. It’s the kind of place where the aroma of fresh-baked bread mingles with the faintest whisper of conversation — intimate yet open, casual yet thoughtfully prepared.
Miss Marenda's craftsmanship shines quietly through their menu, where hearty comforts like a roasted beef plate or a simple chicken salad sandwich paired with homemade soup are elevated by care and attention. The homemade bread and house-made dressings hint at a kitchen focused on familiar flavors done well, offering a soothing backdrop to the day’s rhythm. Beyond the savory, sweet endings like apple dumplings and coconut caramel pie feel like the perfect farewell to a meal shared in good company.
Tea enthusiasts will find their own little delight here, with a variety of teas that seem to invite thoughtful sipping — from warm fruit teas to a classic hot brew that fits any conversation and any season. The cozy, attentive atmosphere nurtures a sense of belonging, making it clear that this is more than just a meal, but a moment cherished by locals and visitors alike.
Miss Marenda's quietly holds space for discovery through simple pleasures: the glow of a well-loved corner, the comforting blend of flavors that echo home cooking, and the easy friendliness of a family-run kitchen inviting you back again and again.

Miss Miranda’s is the best antique store. They also have amazing hot cider while you graze your way through vintage finds!

Great little find! Chicken salad sandwich was so good! The potato soup was perfect on a cold November day!

Miss Marenda's was an utter joy. Other posters have mentioned the side salad, and I whole heatedly endorse their recommendations. Try the homemade poppy seed dressing. Also, the fruit tea. All bread is homemade. If you are in Sparta, you must treat yourself to this family run gem!

The food was basic but good. The service was good. There were a lot of varieties of tea.

Today, took my cousin for lunch, always a delight. I've been here several times since I moved here. Atmosphere is amazing, food and fruit tea, my favorite, is always perfect. Take my family there each time they come to visit, I give it all a Five!!

I love this little stop. They have the best chicken salad around and afterwards we usually go upstairs to get out the antiques. The menu is smaller but I always loved everything I've tried.

I love Miss Marenda's!!!! You will, too. Wish I could give it more than five stars. The food and atmosphere both get an A+. I loved having my own little teapot and choice of many teas. The antique store upstairs is very nice. The hostess/owner Brenda is so sweet and welcoming. I enjoyed it so much. I loved the decor she had displayed for Christmas. We will be back as soon as we can!
